A New Beginning...

Hi there!

Wow. It's been months since I have looked at or let alone written a post for my blog. So much for vowing to post on a regular basis! I was never one to keep my new years resolutions...and I'm sure that will NEVER change ;)

I have no idea where to begin!?!?

Where have a I been and what have I been doing?
I spent three months in Phoenix visiting family and friends.
1. I had a great time seeing people that I hadn't seen in months.
2. I got to see my grandparents before they left for the UK.
3. Took a couple of road trips with by girlfriend down to Tucson...to see friends.
4. Played in the snow a few times.
5. Went to the movies like once a week! (The closest one to P-town is 45 min. away!)
6. Went to Disneyland.
7. Spent some quality time with my Dads parents before they went to Hawaii
8. Celebrated my first "non-teenage" adult birthday...20 years old!
9. Subbed a few classes at my old HS (it was awesome).
10. Had a great time and can't wait to get back for some more!

Location:
I am currently located in Provincetown. I went back to Phoenix for about three months and I am now back on the East coast for another season of working my ass off and some summer fun!

Job Status:
I have three:
1. Still working at my Dads guest house. I am one of two live-in staff and it is going great so far! The new guy is awesome and the work gets done quickly and without complaint!!!
2. Still bussing tables at the Crown and Anchor. I should be able to pick up some more shifts than last season because there aren't as many bussers this season! Yes!
3. In June I start working at a store called Forbidden Fruits! Sounds really dirty, but I swear it's not! I guess you could call it a home decoration store full of chachcas and things!

Green Card Status:
Good news on this front! We (my family and I) applied for green card status a few months back and we are currently just waiting for the approval of that one! Fingers crossed that everything is in order and that the green cards are approved. If everything goes to schedule then we should get some sort of notification this month!!! (Gahhhhh, that's so exciting)

School:
I plan on going back to Phoenix in October/November and registering for school then. This would mean I would start school again in January 2012. I am hoping that I will have a green card and in-state privileges in AZ so that I can book through the remaining 50 credits I need to transfer. This would be completed at Phoenix College. Once I get all of my credits from there I still plan on transferring down to Tucson and The University of Arizona.

Summer Plans:
1. Work, work, work....
2. Take loads of pictures
3. Have a great week in June when two of my friends come to visit
4.Get a tan...yeah, that might be a little harder than you think!
5. Make loads of money and safe it up for a car and school back in Phoenix

That's about it for now. I just wanted to get that all down in a permanent place. It makes me feel accomplished! I can't wait to blog throughout the season and will try to do it on a more regular basis! I just can't guarantee that I won't forget ;)

Oh two more little things!

1. I am doing a much better job at keeping in touch with my closest friends. It's proving to make my time here totally fly by and I love the chats that we have...on a REGULAR basis!
2. Speaking of my friend...she has gotten me addicted to two websites:

Thanks for reading!
Love,
Em

Entry 7

So its Sunday morning and I am sitting at the front desk waiting for people to get out of their rooms and for breakfast to be finished so that I can clean it all up. In the mean time, I forgot that there were two more things to add to my last blog...actually, they are more like announcements.

Number One:
I booked (and paid for!) my first ever flight by myself to come home to Phoenix on December 8th!!! I can't wait to hang out with my three friends, to see my family, and hopefully have a great time. After three months of much anticipated frolicking...I am returning to Provincetown on March 9th for the next season. Now, some of you might not know, but this interferes with my plans to return to England. Well...

Number Two:
I am not going back. I made the decision a while ago that it would be best for me to stay here. By here I mean in Provincetown, where there is ample amount of summer work to be done and where I can save ample amounts of cash! Phoenix is great and I miss my friends dearly, but there is more for me to do in the working sense here than there is there. So, for the time being, my current location and homestead is to be Provincetown, MA. I am actually going to surrender my AZ license in a few days for my MA one...how exciting!

What am I doing instead? Well, it's still a work in progress but...

For the time being, I am going to be living in Provincetown and I guess you could say visiting Phoenix. It's my own personal version of college! There has been some movement on our Green Cards!!!!!! So I have to go have a medical done and I have to fill out some paperwork, but once that is filled I can officially say that I am an LPR (Legal Permanent Resident) applicant. This hopefully means that it might be easier to go to school and if not then I am in the perfect place here to keep working and saving money.

I think that is all for the important updates and I can't wait to get back to Phoenix in December :) See you then.

Until next time.

Entry 6

It feels like an age since I logged onto my blog, but now, after some very busy weeks of summer work I am back to tell you all about it. There has been so much going on and I have been so busy with my jobs that I haven't had a chance to share all the great news. So, as I sit watching the sunset (see below) I am going to fill you all in!

Whale Watching:
Lets just say it was uuuuh-mazing! There were about 9 whales all up-close and personal with our boat, but there were about 20 in the immediate area. It was so cool, especially because I had never seen a whale before. They were so close that when the blew out of there blow holes...we got wet! Here are a few pics of the afternoon...

It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Visit my Whale Watching Album on Facbook to see more.

My New Room:
The next exciting thing that happened was me moving rooms. I was so excited to get out of the canvas ceiling, single bed, three different colored walls room! My new room has one color on the wall (a light blue), a closet, a double bed, and a REAL ceiling!

Let's just say I LOOOOOOVE it :)

Carnival:
Carnival here in P-town is probably best described as "Gay Pride meets Mardi Gras". There is always a theme, the entire town participates, there are amazing costumes, and to end a week long celebration...there is a parade. I did not have the pleasure to watch the parade this year, because I was bussing tables at the Crown and Anchor (my second job), but the bits that I did see were amazing. The pictures that you see here were taken by a family friend. This years theme was...Jungle Fantasy!

Some small realizations:
- I love my new rainbow flip flops...they are so unbelievably comfortable!
- I am a super clutz. I currently have 7 bruises of all shapes, colors, and sizes. I got them all running into things while working :)
- I like my new leggings and shirt/dress that I got at TJ Max a few weeks ago.

The Great Flood:
I wish I had taken some pictures, but on Monday, my dad, Mark, and I were woken up at 2:30am to the fire alarm ringing throughout the entire house. Upon investigation, we realized that there was water pouring from the first floor ceiling. Once we had investigated, we found out that a guest had had too much partying and passed out in the shower and simultaneously blocked the drain and knocked open the shower door. As the water gathered in his second story room, it poured through the ceiling, two lights, and one of the fire detectors. The water tripped the system and we were all woken up. Good thing we were, because there was already a lot of water in the hallway. As we checked the damage, we found that the water had made it down to the basement, thus managing to damage three floors of floors and ceiling.

The experts arrived the next morning and once they had ripped up carpet, cut out walls, and pulled out insulation we were left with a bit of a mess! It took 5 de-humidifiers, 7 fans, and 3 days to dry out the walls and carpets.

It's all cleared up and we are just waiting for the carpet cleaners before we can open up the rooms again. Luckily it wasn't a fire, because I think that would have caused more damage.

Well I think we are all caught up on the events of my life now. It was great to catch up!
Until next time,
Em.

Entry 4

Yesterday (Tuesday), was an eventful day. I worked a really easy shift at my dad's from 7:30am-11:00am, and then I had the rest of the day to myself.

I have been enjoying the freedom that I get from riding the bike and decided that I was going to go for a nice bike ride, because the weather was so gorgeous. So, I set out at around noon on my bike and decided that I was going to head to the East end of town and see where it would take me. 5 miles and about an hour later, I had made it into a town called Truro. This is a google map of where I rode and how far I actually went!

Its not the biggest picture on the blog, but if you click on it, it will open up a bigger picture that is easier to see.

Anyways, after making it to the top of an extremely steep hill, I decided that I was hungry. I turned around and started heading back to a grill that I had seen about 45 minutes back along the road. The grill was one of those "hole in the wall" places that doesn't look very appetizing from the outside, but once you have eaten the food...you are glad you walked through the door! I had a really yummy chicken sandwich with some of the best french fries I have ever had :) Needless to say, I was satisfied with my lunch and headed back towards P-town to complete my 10 mile bike ride!

The rest of the afternoon was really nice. I had a shower, started watching Harry Potter (#1), promptly fell asleep, woke up and finished Harry Potter, and then had a really nice dinner with the dad's and my brother at the Squealing Pig Irish Pub in town.

All in all, it was a great day...that felt like a day off to me, which is great because my real day off isn't until Friday.

Now I'm just sitting at the front desk waiting for people to check in so that my shift can be finished and I can go try this Chinese place out for dinner!

Until next time.

Entry 4

Hey there!

Okay so I am really bummed...I went to the beach on Saturday but I stupidly forgot my camera. So there are no pictures...maybe next time.

Here in P-town there are two kinds of beaches. Ones that are "bay side" are the ones that are within the Cape Cod Bay, and therefor aren't directly connected to the Atlantic Ocean. They are generally closer to town and are a little dirtier because of their proximity to the harbor. Then there are the "ocean side" beaches, which are beaches on the Atlantic coast line. The beach that we went to was "ocean side" and although they are usually colder, the water was really nice.

I did find some really pretty rocks, of different earth colors, that I want to do something crafty with...do you have any suggestions?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight, the house is completely empty! There are guests in the "guesthouse" part of the house, but all of the boys (there are 5 of them) are out of the house. It is amazingly quiet and I am loving it!

To celebrate this monumental occasion there are a few things I am doing:
- Blogging
- Watching Armageddon
- Giving myself a pedi with my favorite Revlon color (Plum Seduction) and new Earth Spirit body butter from Melt.
- Reading my weekly celebrity gossip...how else am I supposed to stay connected to the feminine side in me with 5 guys in the house?!?!
- Eating my favorite candy, which are gummy cocal cola bottles
- Playing Words with Friends on my iTouch with my friend Taylor (who is all the way in Phoenix!).

Its been nice blogging, but I think I am going to go find some desert during the commercial break.

Until next time.

Entry 3

So, having currently re-located recently to Provincetown, MA, I have taken full advantage of getting out on the bike and taking some pictures of the amazing place that I am living in right now. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past few weeks:

I took this on the town beach on my first day in P-town:

There are tons of fishing boats in the harbor...this one was all decked out for the Portuguese Festival, which is basically the heritage of P-town:
The houses here on the East Coast are gorgeous and this is my DREAM HOUSE...two stories, white picket fence, and a beautiful garden:
I went on walk yesterday before eating the most amazing Thai Peanut Chicken for dinner and I saw this light hanging from a tree in a garden...if I ever have a tree big enough then I am totally copying them!
And finally, I had the chance to go into Orleans the other day. Its about an hours drive away and has the "bigger" stores...my store of choice was TJ Max to get some new clothes for work. Upon finding some amazing deals on clothes from The Limited and Kenneth Cole for a fraction of the price I found these super cute flip flops:
Those are just a few of the pictures of the beautiful MA but if you want to look at some more go to my Provincetown Summer 2010 album on Facebook :)

Until next time.
