Entry 4

Yesterday (Tuesday), was an eventful day. I worked a really easy shift at my dad's from 7:30am-11:00am, and then I had the rest of the day to myself.

I have been enjoying the freedom that I get from riding the bike and decided that I was going to go for a nice bike ride, because the weather was so gorgeous. So, I set out at around noon on my bike and decided that I was going to head to the East end of town and see where it would take me. 5 miles and about an hour later, I had made it into a town called Truro. This is a google map of where I rode and how far I actually went!

Its not the biggest picture on the blog, but if you click on it, it will open up a bigger picture that is easier to see.

Anyways, after making it to the top of an extremely steep hill, I decided that I was hungry. I turned around and started heading back to a grill that I had seen about 45 minutes back along the road. The grill was one of those "hole in the wall" places that doesn't look very appetizing from the outside, but once you have eaten the food...you are glad you walked through the door! I had a really yummy chicken sandwich with some of the best french fries I have ever had :) Needless to say, I was satisfied with my lunch and headed back towards P-town to complete my 10 mile bike ride!

The rest of the afternoon was really nice. I had a shower, started watching Harry Potter (#1), promptly fell asleep, woke up and finished Harry Potter, and then had a really nice dinner with the dad's and my brother at the Squealing Pig Irish Pub in town.

All in all, it was a great day...that felt like a day off to me, which is great because my real day off isn't until Friday.

Now I'm just sitting at the front desk waiting for people to check in so that my shift can be finished and I can go try this Chinese place out for dinner!

Until next time.

Entry 4

Hey there!

Okay so I am really bummed...I went to the beach on Saturday but I stupidly forgot my camera. So there are no pictures...maybe next time.

Here in P-town there are two kinds of beaches. Ones that are "bay side" are the ones that are within the Cape Cod Bay, and therefor aren't directly connected to the Atlantic Ocean. They are generally closer to town and are a little dirtier because of their proximity to the harbor. Then there are the "ocean side" beaches, which are beaches on the Atlantic coast line. The beach that we went to was "ocean side" and although they are usually colder, the water was really nice.

I did find some really pretty rocks, of different earth colors, that I want to do something crafty with...do you have any suggestions?

Tonight, the house is completely empty! There are guests in the "guesthouse" part of the house, but all of the boys (there are 5 of them) are out of the house. It is amazingly quiet and I am loving it!

To celebrate this monumental occasion there are a few things I am doing:
- Blogging
- Watching Armageddon
- Giving myself a pedi with my favorite Revlon color (Plum Seduction) and new Earth Spirit body butter from Melt.
- Reading my weekly celebrity gossip...how else am I supposed to stay connected to the feminine side in me with 5 guys in the house?!?!
- Eating my favorite candy, which are gummy cocal cola bottles
- Playing Words with Friends on my iTouch with my friend Taylor (who is all the way in Phoenix!).

Its been nice blogging, but I think I am going to go find some desert during the commercial break.

Until next time.

Entry 3

So, having currently re-located recently to Provincetown, MA, I have taken full advantage of getting out on the bike and taking some pictures of the amazing place that I am living in right now. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past few weeks:

I took this on the town beach on my first day in P-town:

There are tons of fishing boats in the harbor...this one was all decked out for the Portuguese Festival, which is basically the heritage of P-town:
The houses here on the East Coast are gorgeous and this is my DREAM HOUSE...two stories, white picket fence, and a beautiful garden:
I went on walk yesterday before eating the most amazing Thai Peanut Chicken for dinner and I saw this light hanging from a tree in a garden...if I ever have a tree big enough then I am totally copying them!
And finally, I had the chance to go into Orleans the other day. Its about an hours drive away and has the "bigger" stores...my store of choice was TJ Max to get some new clothes for work. Upon finding some amazing deals on clothes from The Limited and Kenneth Cole for a fraction of the price I found these super cute flip flops:
Those are just a few of the pictures of the beautiful MA but if you want to look at some more go to my Provincetown Summer 2010 album on Facebook :)

Until next time.

Entry 2

Ok, so upon entering the blogging world I suppose I should introduce myself.

I was originally born in the United Kingdom at moved the United States (Arizona) about 11 years ago. My parents divorced a few years after we moved out here (my Dad was having an affair with another man). To make a long story very short my Dad moved to Washington DC with his partner and my younger brother and I stayed in AZ with out Mom. Along the way, I moved schools, I began going to an amazing performing arts school from 6th grade onwards. My mom had a baby...and I got the younger sister I always wanted! Eventually, my mom became a single parent again and after some trials and tribulations we have become a very close family. I have a good relationship with my dad and his partner...a.k.a - "the Dad's."

As for school, that is another story. I graduated in 2009 with good grades, average SAT scores, and no green card. If you were under the impression that you didn't need a green card to attend college for a decent price then let me tell...that is not the case. My dream is to go to the University of Arizona and get a BA in History followed by a MA in Secondary Education. When I found out that I could only attend UA as an international student, due to the fact that I do not have a green card or resident visa, and that I would have to fund the entire thing for myself I saw those dreams come crashing down around me. (And don't worry...I am here legally, I just have a non-resident visa!). After trying accepting the circumstances I enrolled in community college and started taking two classes a semester (thats all I could afford as an international student) while the rest of my friends went off around the country and started their Freshman year.

I cannot begin to tell you how much it hurt to watch as my entire graduating class (there were only 30 of us) went off to big colleges, stayed in dorms, met new friends, and started a new journey. I trudged along with my six credits a semester, not making any new friends, and working full time at Starbucks.

At the end of the fall semester, I was faced with even more big decisions. I found out that there is a remote possibility that my family will have to start paying for the immigration work (all the legal crap), and to put that into perspective, its $200 alone to put in an application to renew my work authorization every 12 months. I began to think about all of my possibilities and the dreams that were being shattered right in front of me. After much thought, I decided that it would be a good idea to return to the United Kingdom to complete my higher education.

At this time, I am spending 5 months on the East coast working in my dad's bed and breakfast and also a second job. These jobs are going to help fund my flight home and then hopefully leave me with some cash to start fresh in the UK, where I will be living with my grandparents. I am going back to Phoenix around Thanksgiving time and then leaving for the UK after the New Year rolls around.

This for the time being is my story and my "plan" (as I like to call it). I hate the thought of leaving the US and wish everyday that a miracle will happen and I will be able to get a green card.

I know blogs are supposed to be short and sweet affairs but I felt that in order for you (if anyone is actually reading this) understand me then you have to know the story of how I came to be in MA for the summer and the decisions that I am facing.

I have accomplished one thing today and that is to write a post that makes me feel better, and that in the end, was the main reason for me starting this blog.

Until next time.

Entry 1

Its kind of awkward writing this and wondering who in the world is going to read it...or if anyone is going to read it at all. But here goes nothing:

I have never been the kind of person who scrapbooks their special occasions, or documents their family vacations. To tell you the truth, I have never even had a journal. I'm not sure if it's because I don't have the time or if it's because I am too scared to reveal my thoughts...even to myself (if that makes any sense at all?).

However, things are going to change. My life is doing a lot of changing at the moment and I am finding that keeping my thoughts, ideas, and emotions bottled up inside of me is making it harder and harder to make decisions and simply enjoy life. So, in an attempt to clear my head I am going to start this blog.

It might be cliche to write a blog about my life but then again this isn't for you, it's for me. It is a means for me to vent and express myself...and if you want to come along for the ride then welcome!

Until the next time.
